Aztlan Times

The ICE raids started soon after the protests and rallies of 2006 had died down. Warehouses and packing plants were targeted from California to New York. Even citizens were caught up in the dragnet. Thousands of people were loaded onto buses and sent back to the starting line called the US-Mexico Border.

But then one day something changed. As federal agents approached the construction site in their Surburbans and Crown Vics nobody ran. Usually when the cry of “Migra” rang out in the workplace hundreds of people would scatter running right into the arms of waiting  guards. Today was different. The combination of Arizona’s heat and the long hours was enough for the work crews without the added threats from ICE. Many of the laborers had just crossed the deadly desert and knew the stakes. No more running.

First came the barrage from the pneumatic nailguns. Next, hammers, roof shingles and rocks pelted the agents from all sides. Hundreds of working men wielding 2×4’s, picks, shovels and pieces of pipe appeared from everywhere. The caravan of feds had made a huge mistake. The road they chose sat right in the middle of a half built subdivision and now they were surrounded.

“Adelante”! “Mexica Tiahui”! “Charge”! roared through the crowd. Mexicans, Central Americans, Blacks and Whites rushed the officers. The deafening pop from the agent’s weapons echoed through the jobsite, and men began to drop. Their dusty clothes washed one last time in the burgundy wine of life. The sacrifice of the few fueled the hopes of the many and soon the officers were overrun.  The buses that had been used to exile thousands of migrants out of the empire were now crowded with the battered, broken, and uniformed bodies of the armed thugs that had ruined the warm, productive day.

Let me start by saying that I am not a conspiracy theorist. I consider myself an analyst, historian, and visionary. I stumbled upon this information as I was researching the 13th & 14th amendments to the U.S. Constitution. I was looking into the “anchor baby” rhetoric coming from foes of immigration. I soon discovered that these amendments were used to end slavery after the U.S Civil War and that many Southerners regarded them as punishment. So, I wandered the Civil War section of my local bookstore. Here I discovered that when the Confederate Commanders surrendered they informed their constituents that they would continue to operate in the form of a Shadow Government.

I said to myself, “Why did George W. Bush recite the words of the surrendering South in his speech following the September 11th attacks”? So I dug deeper and found a book titled “The South Was Right” by James R. & Walter D. Kennedy. As I read this book, I realized that Unreconstructed Southerners (Confederates) had the means and the motives to carry out the attacks on 9/11. Remember, it was the heart of Yankee commerce, culture, & command that was attacked on that day. One of the things I do when I read new a book is to check its copyright date to see how current it is. I noticed something strange in the printings of “The South Was Right”. Can you see what it is?

NO PRINTINGS IN 2001. Not before 9/11 Not after. Five months later it went through it’s tenth printing and on the three year anniversary of 9/11 it went through its twelfth printing. But in 2001, it is out of sight and out of mind. I don’t know what it all means and I am just pointing out that Confederates still exist, they are still fighting for independence and they have been infiltrating the U.S. Government since the end of the Civil War. Has the second Civil War already begun? Was the flooding of New Orleans a way to rid the south of freed slaves? What’s next?

WWII Veteran Jose Lopez, a Medal of Honor recipient, returned from war and was refused service in a Texas restaurant that only served White Men AND White Women.  When Blacks were being lynched in the South, White Men AND White Women would gather to get a group picture with the hanging body. The KKK was formed in part to “protect the sanctity of White Women”. Water fountains, movie theaters and public swimming pools were all segregated to acommmodate White Men AND White Women. Even Affirmative Action ended up benefiting White Women.

It is true that Women of Color have experienced twice the prejudice,  but to imply that White Women have struggled in the same sense as People of Color is a lie!

      To date, Aztlan Times has had over 8500+ page views from around the world and Google search engine rankings have been high. Considering that I have very limited computer skills I believe it is off to a good start.

      The website was launched in August of 2007 to commemorate the fall of Tenochtitlan (August 13, 1521) and the Mexican Day of Destiny (August 13,1999). Now, one year and three cyber attacks later, I hope it can become more than a one man blog. 

      My vision from the very beginning was to create an interactive networking site with the look of a major news service. But, more importantly, I wanted to establish a place where the Citizens of Aztlan could come together to design a system for the New States of Aztlan.

      Plans  for the future include scannable, dual citizenship Aztlan passports printed on traditional amatl paper, a Tianquis Market where Pochteca Merchants, or Pochos, can barter and sell goods, webinars and virtual council meetings.

       For now, I am seeking a web master, blog contributors, donors, and ideas.

On Friday, July 25th, The LA Times reported that the Mexican Peso had closed on the US Dollar and had crossed the 10 to 1 exchange rate for the first time since 2002. As the Mexican Peso closes the gap on the US Dollar I have to ask…WHO’S THE BITCH NOW?!

Traditionally, “scholars” have taught that the “tl” in Nahuatl either sounds like the “tle” in cattle or that the “l” is silent and is pronounced more like the “t” in hot. I disagree and insist that the “tl” sounds like the “tle” in chipotle. Why? Chipotle IS a Nahuatl word. “Tla, tlo, tli, and tle“ ARE Nahuatl sounds. And it makes sense that Nahuatl words like coatl became cuate.

2006 may very well be the year that the U.S. Economy reached it’s zenith. As the U.S. economy reached new heights, American Leaders plotted against the migrant/ immigrants that made the prosperity possible. Anti-immigration legislation started popping up and hard working people were forced to take to the streets to voice their opposition. The largest rallies ever on this continent were organized by pro-migrant supporters. Jaws dropped across this hemisphere as the new face of “American” society took to the streets to demand dignity and respect.

The government’s response was to shift its immigration enforcement into hyper-drive. ICE Agents started raiding businesses from sea to shining sea. Environmental laws were shelved to make way for hundreds of miles of new border fencing. Arizona implemented an Employer Sanctions Law that was meant to drive migrants out of the state. Hate crimes against migrants escalated. And the U.S. Economy tanked.

It is interesting to note that the four states that were experiencing the fasted growth in 2006, Arizona, California, Florida and Nevada, are now absorbing the brunt of the housing collapse. In Tucson, AZ, leasing agents are struggling to fill empty apartments in complexes that were always full, and the City of Tucson Government is facing a budget crisis. Also, Arizona businesses are shutting down and moving outside the state due to immigration red tape. The City of Vallejo, California was forced to file for bankruptcy protection. A CITY WENT BANKRUPT! Farmers from San Diego, California are finding it easier to rent land in Mexico and “import” their produce into the U.S. rather than dealing with immigration restrictions. What a mess!
