Death of a Child-Birth of a movement
Tucson, AZ
Just before 5:00 am on October 16th, 2007, Analissa Yvette Monares-Leon, age 6, was killed by a heartless coward that fired a gun five times through the front door of her home. Analissa was asleep on the living room couch and was struck in her cheek and on the left side of her body. Witnesses saw two men in front of her house just after the shooting. Please, help us identify the perpetrators of this horrific murder.
Analissa’s murder sparked an outpouring of support from the Tucson community & has launched a movement to stop the violence against innocent children. A car wash fund-raiser was held the day after the shooting and people came from over 30 miles away. Homicide Survivors was instrumental in organizing the car wash that lasted eight hours and was only stopped because of the fatigue of the volunteers. Letters and donations continue to flood the office of Homicide Survivors.
Analissa was always smiling and I will miss her. “Hi, Tio Joe!”, she would say when I would visit. Those three little words will remain with me forever.
